Philippians 1:7b

“inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel; ”

Does it really matter where we are, or what is happening in our lives at the present moment?

We use every excuse to not witness to others.  Maybe you had a bad day, and just feel down.  Maybe circumstance in your life are not going the way you want them to.  Perhaps you have had a financial setback, or even lost your job.  Or maybe your children are not serving God the way you think they should.  While all these things tend to have an effect on us, none of them should keep us from sharing the Gospel with others.

.Our witness should be 24/7/365.  No exceptions.  And in reality, it is.  People watch us constantly,. Wondering if we will do the right thing,  say the right words, act the right way.  Most know that we profess to be Christians, they just wonder if we really are.  They wonder if, under pressure, we will stumble and fall, or turn out to be the hypocrite they have seen so often in church.

Paul knew that even when he was in that Roman prison, he could confirm the call of God in his life by the way he lived his life.  It didn’t matter that he was confined to a small house, or that he had been beaten, shipwrecked, stoned, and treated with scorn for so many years.  All that mattered was that Christ be preached.  He knew that carrying his cross was just part of the journey, and that one day it would be lifted from him.  He was going to carry it until the end.

How about you?

Lord, give me the strength to push through the difficult times in life and always live the life you ask me to live.  Help me to never live in hypocrisy, but to always show people what Jesus would do.  Make me a witness 24/7/365
